Project
The objective of the project is to design
the parallel simulation of the game of life
on a target architecture (machine clusters,
multicore machines, heterogeneous heterogeneous machines
integrating CPU and GPU) starting from its sequential
sequential version using the classical tools of parallelism
parallelism (in this case OpenMP, MPI, CUDA), using the
EasysPAP environment.
- Start of the project: 15 september 2025
- The project is to be carried out in pairs. Deadline to declare student pairs : 19 september 2025
- Deadline for submitting the produced source code: 31 october 2025
- Project defense: 3 november 2025
Deliverables
You are asked to return the source code of your parallelized
programs, a report, as well as the slides used during the defense.
Beyond the gain in performance, the objective of the project is that you follow a
scientific approach.
Thus, your report, in the form of a PDF file, must contain the main parts of your code, the justification
for any optimizations, the experimental conditions and the graphs obtained, each described and
analyzed. The report is directly placed at the root of your
csc5001-easypap-se git project.
The defense, representative of your report, lasts 15 min + 10 min
of questions. It at least presents how you parallelized the
application, presents and explains the measured performances.
